Exactly!

Locked differentials would be very dangerous in any condition other than slow speed loose traction off-road.  This is why the G80 automatically disengages once you reach ~20 mph.  On snowy/icy roads having locked diffs will actually create more wheel slip, which I acknowledge seems somewhat counter-intuitive.

Update: They drove the truck 2 hours to my house. I appreciate that, but I had to refuse delivery due to 2 issues.

The 3 pieces of tonneau cover were missing. This was not disclosed. None of the photos was taken at an angle that would show whether the cover was on or not.
The dash was cracked in 2 places.
Before they drove it to me, I specifically asked about any major cosmetic or mechanical issues. Answer was negative.
There were scratches and blemishes a several places inside and outside, but I was willing to accept those, but not the 2 major issues.
Oh well, I'll go see the blue AV in person this time.

What a scam ?
I'm glad you didn't drive far to see it.

Next time you know to ask them sepcifically:
Does it have the Hard BEd covers? (do the handles turn)
Is the dashboard cracked?

Maybe we should come up with a QUESTIONS to ask list for each generation Avy??
Might help a lot of peeps as well as allow others to know what are common issues.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Good idea ygmn  (y)

If you start a new thread along the lines of things to look for when buying a used AV maybe it can be tagged so it stays at the top of the board and can be referenced if a new member asks the same questions about buying an AV. Check individual vehicle history, use pricing websites too as well as looking for individual generation or model issues etc. One reason many years ago I started a poll in each problem section asking owners if they had any issues with that topic hoping some admin would pin the thread so it would stay at the top and show members any trends in problems. Unfortunately it never happened...

I am admin who can pin and fix and edit etc..

but I think You members should write it up as all I have is a 2001 with no issues.

Wow, looks like the EXT is back up for sale, and the price actually increased to $16,998 from $16, 495.

It is probably good to note that the cracked dash issue seems to be somewhat common on the second generation Avalanches, EXT's and other trucks of that platform.

There are even Facebook groups for owners that problem.

There are plenty of threads on this forum discussing that issue.

Also, the bed panels can be had on the used market.

There was a set offered up on one of the Facebook groups just this week for $50.

That is about as low as I remember seeing for a set, however.

But, the point is, they are out there and if you find your dream truck and the bed panels are missing, you still have options.
