(Complete) 2014+ Silverado Rear Bumper Swap

Hey fellas, I asked about it awhile back and nobody had stepped up to the plate and done an actual bumper swap. Well, good news! I finished the swap in a weekend, I started with a brand new oem 2017 silverado bumper. Then I modified the existing bumper brackets to bolt to the new brackets. Then I put it on and painted all of it. Only thing it needs is to be wrapped black, brake lights to fill in the parking sensor holes (my avy doesn’t have sensors), and a trailer light plug. Still figuring out the spare tire spot, might just make some 3D printed parts for that.

I cut the old brackets with a grinding wheel and cleaned the edges with a flap disk. Then I cut the new brackets in half so they are just there for support, not there for actually bolting on. I'll try to get some pictures if I take it off to wrap it black.

Not hard at all! I modified both the brackets together and had it put back together in a day, this weekend I ripped it off and wrapped it black. Overall I’d say it’s weekend work but I’m a metal fabricator and I’ve done all my tint my whole life so that helped me with the wrap.

Did you manage to take some pics of the modified brackets? Interested in doing this, just would like to see how everything's modified.

Also how far out do the ends of the bumpers stick out from the side of the truck? They look to contour nicely, but look to stick out some as well.

They do stick out, if I had to guess it would be 1/4 of an inch. I will try to take more pictures if it the next time I get it into the shop, but I’ve been busy with my new 07 LTZ avalanche I just picked up

Like I said, didn’t do any of that I just modified my new brackets and old brackets to have it bolt right up.

Sorry Buddy, I did a leveling kit on it and sold it to a friend of mine which totaled it right away. Sad to say it but my time on this forum has come to an end but maybe you’ll be the one to replace me haha

I'm sorry to bring back an old thread, but have you ever had the chance to get photos of the brackets you fabbed up? To my understanding, you combined the two, did you weld them together? My bumper is pooched and I want to throw on this style pretty bad, just no idea what I'll be in for if I do. I should have all I need to make it happen, just looking for a game plan before I pull the trigger.

I haven’t taken any pics, been too busy with my house. I’ll have my truck repainted this year and when I put the new rear bumper on I’ll post some pics of what I did.
