Drive it! My Avalanche is my one rig, do-it-all vehicle. ;D

Mine stays out under a sap dripping tree in all weather - drive it every day - it is a WORK truck, not some wimpy show piece.

As they say about many things: Use it or lose it. ;D

You don't really let sap drip on your paint do you gandolphxx?

But if you really do, I would be interested in knowing what you use to remove it.

You have to drive it somewhere in order to park it, right? I am not really sure what the point is of this question other than to run up posting numbers.

I bought my AV to use it not to sit and watch it. :)

Interesting that this old thread of mine should resurface seven months later!

The Av was brand new then . . . and yea, the idea of it getting bashed by some idiot in a mini van was pretty un-nerving . . .

Now, with about 10,000 miles on it, a bit of off roading, and my getting used to exactly what it will do, I'll be a bit more adventurous this year!

But to each his own . . . if you choose to park the Av and drive the beater as the crappy weather once again decends, I'll understand ;D

So, I say - "I'll drive my capable alternative - '87 S10 Blazer and leave the Av parked in the garage."

My wife says - "Why did you buy it if you're not going to drive it?"
With me it was the exact opposite. I wanted to drive it, my wife said I shouldn't.

Just before Xmas I made the deal on an Av, and they found one just like I wanted, but out of town. They said they would pick it up right after Xmas. Before that could happen we got seven feet of snow in a few days.

This was the view out my front door on the day I was supposed to pick up the new Av (It's still early in the storrm, there's not quite 3 feet at this point):

I was really upset because I had to wait for my truck, but I was more upset that I couldn't play in the snow with the new truck.

Maybe she was trying to console me for the MIA truck, but she thought I was nuts for wanting to take a new truck out in snow like that! I said "That's why I wanted it, I know it can handle it." She then said "What about the other idiots on the road, you want one of them to hit you?"

In the end, I ended up using the old Blazer for the next week, but that's only because I had to wait for the truck to arrive. :6:

If I had my Av that week, I would've spent the whole time out there in the snow with my truck! >:D

As it was, by the time I actually got the truck, all the streets were cleaned up and dry.

SS, I am right there with ya - when we get a dump or I am headed up to my dad's house and I hear they are going to get a bunch of snow, I get EXCITED about the thought of driving my Av - it was the same way after I got my Pathfinder back in '92 - I couldn't wait to get out there in the deep stuff, maybe pull some Explorer out of a ditch (did THAT many times), play good samaritan, all cozy in my beast - the AV is the best in this regard, esp with my chunky MT/Rs. I can't wait for the first snow, justifies the Av.

Keep my Av in the garage 'cause it snowed and take some less capable car? you gotta be friggin kiddin me. The Miata stays in all winter, cause it was not built for snow. The Av on the other hand . . .

New members, What do you do?

Its Spring Break and my AV is getting a rest.
