Experience With Chev Dealers

I must say that the Chev dealers where I am generally appear to be pretty brutal. I know very little about the Av, compared to most of you. Sadly, this amounts to one @#$% of a lot more than any salesguy I've dealt with (as most of you have already commented). More sadly, the guys I've dealt with don't seem to care whether I buy an Av from them or not.

At the first dealer, I hooked up with a guy whose business card reads "7 Year Member Sales Marketing Guild". The other salespeople at this dealership tell me that this guy is their superstar - he knows everything there is to know. I told him that I wanted to order an 03, talked to him a bit (which was painfully uninformative and a complete waste of time for me) and told him I'd call him when I was ready. I left him a voicemail to call me, which went unanswered. About a week later, I talked to him (he was with a customer and promised to call me right back). Again, no reply.

I went to another dealer and told the salesguy there that the first guy didn't seem interested in a sale as he wouldn't return my calls. You've probably already guessed it - ironically, the second guy didn't return my messages either. At this point, I prayed for someone to remove me from this madness.

I decided to give the first guy a shot again. I called him and mentioned that he hadn't called me back. He insisted that I was mistaken as one of his "rules" was to always return his calls promptly - that this is one of the reasons he has been so successful. Even though he was completely wrong, so what? Whatever happened to the rule that no matter what, the customer is always right? Anyway, this guy's no worse than the rest so I think I'll go with him since the dealer is closest to my place of work.

I can go on and on about my subsequent (less than ideal) dealings with this guy, but will spare you.

I've concluded that the Chev salespeople where I live view their job as nothing more than facilitating a sale (ie. completing the paperwork to do the deal). They know very little about the product they're selling and don't seem to care whether a sale is made. It's like they are doing me a favour. I can't understand how someone who does this for a living would not spend an hour a night on the net to educate themself about the very product they're selling. I have recurring nightmares about what I imagine will be the service department's attitude.

On the other hand, and to be fair, it has in fact crossed my mind that with age, I've gotten more demanding, more reliant on others to generate excitement and may very well have "Pain in the A#%" tattooed on my forehead.

Anyway, I love the Av and I am going to get one. But I must say, I've previously owned a Saturn, an Acura, a Pathfinder and a Jeep GCL. Apart from the JGCL (which was a negative buying experience but such a steal that I didn't care at the time), all the other purchases were nothing short of positive and exciting. With such a passion inspiring vehicle as the Av, it's a pity that I have no choice but to deal with uninformed, uninspired individuals. It's a good thing that the Av is so good that it can sell itself, because the salespeople I've dealt with aren't capable of doing it.

In a week, I'll be in Moab for the fat tire festival, grinding up the slickrock, dreaming of the Av to keep my mind off the excruciating pain and trying to keep up with my buddies. Life is still good, despite the salespeople I am forced to deal with. And I'll have my Av soon, despite them. :)

Sorry to hear about your bad response from the dealer. I don't know where you are located, but i am sure someone on the site has to be near you.
I have got into the habit of visiting the Service manager first and it has worked out well for me. Found one in New Iberia LA that runs a drag strip on the weekends. and quote " I do not make anything off of vehicle sales" If i buy my AV down the road which i did he takes care of it and me very well. Have taken him to lunch a couple of times while i had them change my oil.
The salesman that i talked to has come back and looked at AV and complimented me on it. They were straight forward about it as well as i about Money talks/Bull---- walks.
Maybe u can talk to service manager and feel him out...If good, go to the other guys and check them out. Just explain to him what you are doing and you are looking for good and reliable service...See what he says...
ZEEYA................ :B:

The sales manager is the guy you want to see. My local dealer is pretty much a schmuck, if it is on his lot no problem. All Z-71's and loaded to the hilt. He doesn't know what a order form is, that is a lot of work, I don't get paid for that. I told him the dealer 25 miles down the road knows how to fill out those darn order forms. So I drive 25 miles down the road, walk in a tell the salesmanager I want a Z-66 he pulls out a order form and gives to a salesman and tells him to fill it out and get it back to him by noon. About 4:00 p.m the salesman calls and said the order was called in to factory and they will call back in 2 days with a build date. Four weeks later I have my Z-66.

Im sorry to hear that. I must be lucky, because my salesman is very knowledgeable and my service team is tops. In fact, the service manager just gave me access to their theater seating conference room for any club meetings in the area. I have no members yet....HINT HINT SOUTH CAROLINA GUYS AND GALS...but when we have our meetings, thats where they will be.

I hope things work out for you.

You are in luck!!!

You found the CAFCNA web site. Now when you go into the dealers show room you'll not only know more about the AV, then most of the salesmen, you'll be able to answer all of their questions.

Before I bought my AV, I visited several dealerships. I talked with the service managers, parts managers and picked up lots of business card from the sales people.

I finally found a salesman who facilitated my AV search.
The guy was helpful, patient and honest. He told me that ther was alot that he didn't know about the AV.
He put a plate on and let me test drive the one I was interested in. When I returned he suggested that I drive other models with different equipment to compare.

He was helpful, not pushy and the third salesman from that dealership that I had talked with. I'm still not sure if he sold to me or if I bought from him. The end result is the same. I love this truck!!!

Welcome!!!

With record sales up here in Canada for the last couple of months, like alltime record sales . The salesmenare not very hungy. If you don't just want to sign on the line get out of the way because there is someone behind you that is ready and we will take care of them first.the good times have made them complacent. When the bottem falls out they will be licking our boots again. The service sucks at the dealer I bought mine from so I went down the road to another dealer and told him that I was unimpressed with the compitition and was there to give them a shot. A couple of Hours later My vehical was delivered to my home repaired and washed. They now get all my service work!So I f you look around you might find something better.

Well.....all I can say is our local Chevy dealership just plain sucks. Not that I would ever mention their name *COUGH* >:DBUCKALEW>:D*COUGH* and tell how bad they were. >:D

I've went in twice looking for parts for my AV. They have this, "If I can't find it on the computer, it doesn't exist mentality." First time I went in they sold me the wrong bowtie because "that's what was in the computer." Well....the computer is wrong because that bowtie didn't fit. I actually went out and pulled the existing bowtie off my truck and made them order the part number on the back. :0: Second time I went in the computer did not show the part I was looking for, and I could not convince them it existed so I left empty handed. Not to mention the losers behind the counter were the unfriendliest bunch of guys I've ever met in a sales position. :p

Now for the Body Shop. The body shop is the whole reason I'm driving a AV. My '01 Silverado was hit just 3 days shy of 2 months old. :7: Right in the driver side door and fender. This body shop had my truck for 29 days. I rejected the truck 3 times. :8: Two months after I got it back the door shifted and began rubbing the front fender. :7: It also began to leak air so loudly I should have rode with the windows down. I took it back to them and explained their work had not held and the door shifted. They proceded to explain to me that I must have done that myself since those doors were solid welded. :7: :8: :7: :8: :7: :8: They blamed me for the damage. :8: :8: :8: I found out later this is common practice. I've ran into no less than five people who tell me similar stories. I went and complained to the owner of the dealership who offered to for his body shop to fix their screw up for another thousand bucks. :7: :8: :7: :8: :7: :8:

So yeah....if your getting the feeling I don't like them your right. :D:
