What route will you be taking?

If Nor cal and everyone else is going to take I-80 across I can meet up with them in Little America. It is a huge truck stop between Evanston and Green River/Rock Springs. And if we coordinmate with the I-25 group we could all meet in Cheyenne at the Flying J, (cheapest gas in the country, usually).

Remember I use to plan trips for over 30,000 job sites to make sure my techs or i could get there efficiently.

Sounds like a plan Shane  (y)

I think Shane could work with Nick and coordinate all the carvans from the different major cities and really put together some fantastic caravans complete with meeting locations for others to join in.

Robby - I'm counting on meeting up with you guy's in Denver! Hopefully we will be bringing a nice group with us. Need to get the Vegas and SoCal groups to hook up with us in Flagstaff - then we will head toward Denver.

Shane - awesome input!! Please feel free to do your thing routing out these convoys as people start committing. Your help would be appreciated by EVERYONE!! Let's work together on getting them there!!

Nick

I am here and ready to help planning getting all peoples to the same palce. I would like to try to coordinate with all the groups to work out time and meeting spots for hooking up with others convoys.

So feel free to ask me anything that anyone needs.

Shane what route were you saying i should take was it through Denver and then straight up what does that take us through and what would i avoid i have never driven that way and want the easiest route and the one i can hook up with others.
Thanks
Robby

I'm not sure how far it is from Abilene to Denver but we should be able to make that in 1 day and meet up up with everyone. I hope to leave on the 20th I hope to be bring some others from Texas up with me but they might have to stop sooner because its at least 6 hours to Abilene from Houston and 4+ from San Antonio I don't know if they could make Denver or not? Sounds like a mile high plan to me Nick.

This is excellent.. I can't wait!!

Todd

that's a lot of driving in 1 day 911 miles from Phoenix to Denver
704 miles from Abilene to Denver
Need to get Ghost to find us a hotel in Denver for everyone to stay at.

Cheyenne is only 75 miles north of Denver is has cheaper hotels and gas. Plus you won't have to deal with morning traffic.

I can get you all to where you need to be. I just need a staring point. I can then arrange to have you hook up with others along the way.

Off topic sort, but do you all have FSR and/or CBs to use for caravaning?  If so, we should probably at some point determine a frequency to be on and of course exchange cell phone numbers, at least for the ride coordinators for each region or individuals driving solo.

I spoke with someone about this and they said they are using channel 7. So I think CB, walkie Talkie and Cell phones are going to be a necessity for this to work out perfectly.

I will try to hook you up with all the caravans coming across I-90 from the east. I want to also have caravans from farther south hook up with you in KC.

If I can get starting points for everyone I will coordinate with the caravan leaders so you all can meet at certain locations along the way. Who knows we may pick up some Av's that are not int CAFCNA.

I'll be taking I-29 North out of KC to I-90 West to Rapid City.? Approx 718 miles.

So far NatsCanAv, Ontario, sirshopolot and I think Northfacenomore would all be traveling I-94/I-90 W from Chicago area if we can make it. Vacation timing and how many stops matter, I'm more inclined to drive with few stops so could join a caravan and then leave it behind.

Here are my thoughts so far on this awesome journey.

Side note: If we can get enough Avalanches to this gig we might be able to make it in the Guinness Book of world records.

So here are my travel plans so far:

Amd1900mp, I would like to be the lead for the southwest caravan. This group will be now called Desert Caravan. You will be having the people that are coming across from So cal that did not take I-15 to SLC. The you will be picking up people from New Mexico ans wets Texas. Then when you get to Denver you will be picking up people from the Mid west that came across I-70. When you get to Cheyenne you will be meeting the Northwest Caravan.

Northwest Caravan will start in Sacramento Ca. I am hoping RorinRow will help me with coordination efforts there. I would like the members from the Bay Area and Central valley to meet up with the Sacramento group at a location of Roarinrows choosing. This caravan will drive I-80 East and pick up members in Reno, Elko and any others along the I08 corridor between Reno and SLC. When you arrive in SLC you will be joining caravan from the I-15 corridor. Then continue on to Cheyenne Wyo. I will be meeting you in Little America which is about 60 miles East of Evanston at Highway 30. My caravan will merge with yours and continue on to Cheyenne where we will meet the desert caravan and then head up to rapid City.

So cal I15 Caravan, I am looking for a leader here. If you are not going to take I-10 across to Arizona, then i am assumingyou will be taking i-15 north to SLC. I will need you to coordinate with any members from LA or the southern valley,( Bakersfield, Fresno). Meet this group in Barstow at the 58- I-15 junction. Then continue north to Las Vegas. Meet any members there and continue on. As you come p the I-15 corridor you might be picking up some members from places like St George and such. When you get to SLC you will be meeting the Northwest caravan and continue on with them.

Northeast caravan, George i would like to volunteer you for this endeavour. I would like any members coming across the I-90 and I-80 corridor to meet up with Northface either at his home or a location he chooses. Then head north on I-90 to I94 in Milwaukee. I believe there is a rest area just west of Milwaukee that would work great for a meeting spot. Any members from the Milwaukee or northern WI. area should meet here. Then head on across the state and be sure to stay on I-90 when it splits with I-94, Communication will be key here. You will be then cruising the scenic I-90 into Minnesota. You will be meeting members at the I-39 Junction, which by the way is a perfect place to get gas if you have not filled up since Chicago. Then continue on to Sioux falls SD. This is the I-29 junction and you will be meeting members there. Fill up again here and you should be good on gas for the rest of the trip.

Midwest caravan. This is is kinda of difficult because of the expanse of it. I would like to have Tdybr27 be my leader in Missouri for this trek. He will be leading anymembers from East Texas, and all other southern states up the I-29 to I 90 to meet up with the Northeast caravan.

Remember this is just a rough draft. I will add more detail as i get a list of where people are coming from. I would appreciate any help i can get in having a leader for each caravan

Thank You

Shane

Shane,
Make sure you work close with Nick (04avfan) he is the Lead Cruise Coordinator and a co-chair on the committee. I can tell you two will be make this an unforgettable caravan to the National for everyone going!

Todd

Shane - Great stuff so far! Thanks for all the time you are putting into this already!!

The SoCal group route is kind of off if I'm reading it right. If they go the I-15 route they won't be close to Bakersfield. That would put them way out of their way. They would be coming out thru Riverside, San Bernadino, Victorville, Barstow, Baker and then into Vegas.

Keep in touch - feel free to PM me. I want to make this the biggest caravan on wheels!!

Nick

OK I did a mistype on that. I did mean for them to meet in Barstow at the 58-I-15 junction.

Lucky for me i know the routes in the west very well. I drove from San Jose to Las Vegas every weekend for 4 years and then i did the same from Pocatello to Vegas for 4 years. I have also driven the I-90 and I-80 Interstates from Pocatello to Wisconsin and Fresno to Pocatello. I have done those trips more times then I like to admit. This is why I have put 70k on my truck in 21/2 years.

You and me both bro! I wonder what the longest caravan with the most Avalanches will be coming from?

Todd

I guess that will depend. the caravan we are going to have from Cheyenne to rapid City is going to be a culmination of a lot of smaller ones.

In my opinion I believe either the AZ caravan or the Northwest Caravan.

I am currently investigating the possible routes to get there and if I actually have the time to attend.  What it looks like is that it is a two day trip from Southeastern Pennsylvania with a stopover in the Chicago area. (I know somebody who lived in Rapid City for several years and that is what it took him to drive out there from here)

2 days form here in Texas also was planning to stop in Denver and meet up with the Arizona bunch. Hopefully by the the time this rolls around there will be several groups coming from that way you can caravan with.
