What Vehicle Did You Switch From? Part II

I just traded my 2002 Pewter Z71 for a 2003 Victory Red Z71. I had to trade because the 03 has more bells and whistles...leather bucket seats,,bum warmers, onstar, Offroad Package, Driver Information Center, Convience Package, 6 disc CD changer, Home Link, etc..there is just to much stuff on this truck! I LOVE IT!!

During the February rebate I traded in my base model black '02 Avalanche for an '03 gray Z66, yeah lots of bells and whistles.

I traded a 1996 Toyota Tacoma Extented cab. Nice ride but I'm glad to be back into a full size, American truck. I got a great trade in on the Toy, and it was a fun little truck while it lasted. No regretts, I Love the AV!
Daniel

I traded in my wifes 99 denali in on my 02 Z71 Silver drives and rides so much better than the denali love the truck and my wife for letting me finnaly get my truck.

I sold my 1992 Jeep Wrangler, which was definitely a fun :p vehicle for a while and every time I see one I miss mine a little

But WAY before the Jeep was sold I had my eye on the Av ;D Finally I snagged mine on Jan 1, 2002 ;D I wouldn't give up my Z71 for anything else. I may add vehicles to the collection down the road but the Av is better overall than any Dodge :9: or Ford :D: 4dr trucks.
:B:

I traded my 97 Jeep Wrangler with a 3.5 inch lift...It had 94,000 and It started breaking every other week...The acronym Just Empty Every Pocket was the truth...I liked the Av, but I am really cheap and I was going to buy another used vehicle for in the $15,000 range...

I spoke to one of my assistants at work and she told me her dad was a chevy salesman and he would take care of me...I went down to see him, took one for a test drive, he told me about the $3,000 rebate and the $1,000 GM Loyalty (Wife's Pontiac Gran Am GT), and he said he could get me another $4,000 - $4500 off on whatever one I bought...Then we'd work on my trade...

Anyway, this is my first brand new vehicle ever...I felt he took care of me...It's an 03 Avalanche 4X4 that has just stock options besides the tow package...This is the most bells and whistles I've ever had and they were'nt options...It's dark grey metallic...I have found that either people love the Avalanche, or they hate it...There's no in between...I love it!!!!!

I'm always impressed when someone trades an 02 for an 03... now that is committment to the cause.

Traded a 98 F-150 reg cab flairside with a hyperguzzling V6, 5 speed, crank windows and no tilt.

That truck was my first venture outside of GM vehicles, and will never go back. Had my eye on an Avalanche when the concepts ran in MT and other mags. Love the look and the amenities, even though I have the base model only (with the HD trailering package). Its my UAV.

Great truck but very unhappy with the dealership, but I think thats another thread.

Now a new problem: wife is pestering me to drive it.

I just put a deposit on a Dark Gray Metalic '03 Z66 Av. Im currently trying to sell my 2000 Impala.

Now I have to figure out how to fit it in the driveway with my pickup. :)

Bought my 02 Black Z66 Av used last week. Gave my 1995 Silverado LS to my son. He loves it.

Got a great deal on the AV, Z66, running boards, On Star, power seats, side air bags, only 9,000 miles on it, like new. Got it for $23,000. Didn't think I would get one.

Traded in a 1997 Isuzu Trooper (remember that commie rag Consumer Reports said it would flip over in a stiff breeze--wrong!). It was a sturdy but under-powered with bad gas mileage and somewhat primitive. Before that was a really primitive 1992 Jeep pickup. The Avalanche fills both roles and is really light-years ahead of both as far as gadgets and doo-dads go.

I was really hoping Ford would come out with something like the Avalanche but it doesn't look like that will happen. I grew up on a farm with Ford pickups and trucks that just never quit. So far I've been happy with the quality of the Av. Although as a computer guy, I chuckle at the way you "program" the electonic options--there has got to be a better way. Luv that Av.

Hey Dave, welcome to the club! I would agree, that sounds like a pretty good deal, especially with the low miles. I got my Black Z66 back in 10/01 not too long after they first came out, and I thought I was doing good to get mine for only $200-$300 over invoice...

I had a 93 Silverado Extented Cab, nicely loaded with running boards, camper top and tow package. Only had 108K on it, but the tranny was going out (for the 2nd time) and it needed an AC compressor and a valve job.

Figured it would be smarter to take the couple of grand it would cost me to fix all those problems and use it as part of the down payment on something new, like an Avalanche! ;D

I bought during the February 03 4K Rebate, the dealership doubled the rebate so that I ended up only paying 29K for my Z66. It is not fully loaded, but darn close. Only missing the Sunroof and Onstar, and I did not want them anyway. But I got everything else. Window sticker was 37K.

On top of that deal, they gave me 4K for my trade in even with all the troubles. Of course, they did not drive it on the freeway so they could not detect the tranny problems. >:D Feel sorry for the guy who buys it from them! They did not mention the valve train noise, only the AC compressor making noise. It still works, just very, VERY, loud.

I figure the trade in paid for tax, tag, title, and extended warranty!!

I am very happy with the AV so far. I tend to keep my vehicles a long time, I had the Silverado for 10 years, had the truck before that for 9 years. Should have this one a similarly long time as well, unless I change my 2 mile drive to work!!

Cheers,
Reidan

I traded my 1994 GMC Sierra Z71 ext. cab (100,000miles) for my 2002 2500 Avalanche 4X4. ?It was a fantastic truck but I needed more room for my growing family. ?Plus the Avalanche had a lot better safety features such as airbags, even side airbags which don't come in the Silverado or Sierra.

I had a 1999 Toyota 4 Runner Limited Edition. I was moving towards more of a hauling/towing type truck. Besides hauling my bike behind on a trailer the 4 Runner, the truck couldn't do what I wanted.

So I bought the Avalanche to haul the bike in the Bed of the truck. I no longer need my Fathers F-150 to haul Sheetrock and Plywood for my Business. And the kids refer to my truck as the Transformer. I spend lots of time modifing the truck to my exact needs. It'a amazing how versatile this Avalanche is. Also how comfortable this truck is...
;D

2001 Lexus GS430
Yeah - I know. ? ?Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Wish I could've kept both. ?But I love my AV - and it was rough trying to fit lumber in the sunroof! ?;)

Traded in GMC Yukon. That was a great truck. I did not have the third seat option. Put 100,000 miles on it with no problem. Couldn't afford a 2003 so I went with the lower cost Av.

Actualy I just changed the yesterday and bought a new Avalanche. I traded in my 2002 Avalanche Pewter for a 2003 Dark Grey Avalanche. ;D
